  • Live Streaming
It’s my first time out messing around with streamers. I’ve had a long-time vision of doing rolls on a sit-down hydrofoil with long streamers corkscrewing behind. I turned an 8 foot wooden pole into a handle and attached red streamers to each end. Not bad for a first try, but I know there’s a lot more to this one…

  • Single Doubles
I just picked up a 72” FreeRide from @hoskis specifically to work on single ski doubles. I’ve been inspired watching vintage show ski footage of my uncle Mike Murphy at Marine World where this act was a staple of the show. It’s so exciting to know there are still so many avenues to explore in water skiing after almost fifty years!

  • RIP Roger Crocker
Today we lay to rest a good friend, father, and amazing skier. We had so many shared memories and adventures…his accidental death is just another reminder of how precious life is and how important it is to live in love, thankfulness and awareness every day.

The countdown is on to editing for the @CaliforniaSkier 50 for 50 Event Video! I can’t wait to work with the amazing video shot by @Marcus_Brown_ @GregsWorld and the rest of the crew. Editing by Jordan Gravatt @TattooedMedia. We are looking forward to telling a story that inspires people to set goals and get fit to reach them!

  • First for Good Reason: 1983
Throwing it back to my first big video appearance for O’Brien Skis. I still remember walking into the LA Boat show in ’83 and having this video playing at the @ObrienWatersports booth. It was my first taste of the “big time,” appearing alongside Camille Duvalle, Andy Mapple, and many other skiing greats.
I’ve posted the entire video to YouTube…

  • Back to the Future

After seeing a classic shot of a similar move from the 1950s (see B&W pic about 50 posts back in my feed), I am inspired to see where this can go. This was our proof of concept ride that let us know it is not only possible, but can be taken to a whole new level with the right gear and riders.

I would ❤️ to hear from anyone who has experience with this act.

WAKESURFER

Liquid Force Venture (circa 1997): I first rode this board at the River and immediately fell in love with it. I was recently off the payroll at HO, and although I was able to get some free stuff here and there, never found a wakesurfer I really connected with. Just like with the HO Freeride, I knew immediately this was a board I wanted. Fortunately we were riding with the Liquid Force rep at the time, and he hooked me up with a board at dealer cost. It was the most I had ever paid for a piece of personal ski equipment.

It’s funny but my son and I don’t usually use the Venture in the traditional way, that is surfing without the rope (although he did learn to surf with the Venture 2-boat style without the rope). We most often ride with a 20-25′ Poly-E rope. The board is set up with a single fin for easy spins.

We love riding the wakesurfer in the afternoons when the water is choppy. The slower speeds make falls easier, but we still manage to challenge ourselves by  learning new moves.
